Si Eon Choi, Flute

Hailed as “elegant and sensitive” by Boston Classical Review, flutist Si Eon Choi won prizes in numerous competitions, including the Lions of Virginia Bland Music Competition, the Flute Society of Washington competition, and the Pasadena Showcase competition. She made her concerto debut in 2018 with the Colburn Orchestra, returning as a soloist in 2020.

Si Eon Choi is a passionate orchestra musician. She has been a member of the Juilliard Orchestras, the sub-list of the New World Symphony. Her highlights include playing principal roles with the Juilliard Orchestra in New York, Colburn Orchestra in Los Angeles, and Boston Philharmonic Youth Orchestra led by Benjamin Zander. She had the pleasure of playing with renowned conductors, including Valery Gergiev, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Michael Tilson Thomas, and Matthias Pintscher. 

Si Eon Choi has been a guest of several international music festivals, including the Orford Music Festival in Canada in 2018 and 2019, studying with Julien Beaudiment and Robert Langevin. In 2019, Choi attended the Sarasota Music Festival, studying with Carol Wincenc, Leone Buyse, and Thomas Robertello. She also attended the Aspen Music Festival in 2017 with Nadine Asin and Demarre McGill. 

Si Eon Choi received her Master’s degree at The Juilliard School in New York with Carol Wincenc. Previously, she earned a Bachelor’s degree at the Colburn School in Los Angeles, studying with Jim Walker. In high school, she attended the New England Conservatory Preparatory School from 2013-2016, studying with Nina Barwell. Her previous teachers include Alycia Hugo and Judy Grant. In addition to her achievement as a performer, Choi is passionate about teaching. She was a teaching fellow at the Colburn School and was a MAP and Morse teaching fellow at Juilliard. Ms.Choi is currently studying Doctoral of Musical Arts Degree at Stony Brook University with Carol Wincenc, where she serves as a Flute Teaching Assistant.
